Bowled Over: If you are looking for an interesting evening and a way to help Grassroots, consider Bowled Over: An Empty Bowls fundraiser for Grassroots sponsored by the Columbia Art Center, 6100 Foreland Garth in Columbia, on Saturday, Oct. 3, 6-9, p.m. For $20, attendees can choose a bowl by a local artist, enjoy light fare and view studio demonstrations. Proceeds benefit Grassroots.  Call 410-730-0075 to order tickets.

Celebrating Heroes: Once again Mission BBQ in Columbia sold American Hero Cups to raise funds for local fire, police and first responder charities, including Grassroots, which received over $4,000 from the latest campaign.

Crisis Food Pantry Needs Replenishing: Grassroots is looking for donations of ready-to-eat soups, canned meals (such as Chef Boyardee, stew or chili), microwavable soups and microwavable meals.

Party Favors: Laura Kittleman of The Kittleman Group invited attendees to her annual Crab Feast to bring donations for Grassroots clients. Over $1,000 was contributed in addition to food, supplies, linens and hygiene items.

Remembering Taylor: Organizers Cathy Smith, Tricia Smith and Amy Cargiulo and Quest Fitness are hosting a fundraiser in memory of Taylor Perdue who lost her life to suicide in July.  “Spin for Life” is fully booked, and registration fees will be donated to Grassroots. Those who want to make a gift in Taylor Perdue’s memory can do so at grassroots.hocomojo.org, or mail a check to Grassroots, 6700 Freetown Rd., Columbia, MD 21044, and put her name in the Memo line.
