Thank You to Faith Communities

Seventeen faith communities hosted the 2016-2017 Grassroots Cold Weather Shelter, serving 65 people, including 4 families.  Shelter guests ranged in age from 1 to 71 and spent 1 to 133 nights in area churches and synagogues when other shelter options are not available to them. Faith community volunteers provided meals, transportation, and fellowship, and Grassroots provided on-site staff, management and coordination.

This year’s participating congregations were Atholton Seventh Day Adventist Church, Bethany United Methodist Church, Bridgeway Community Church, Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church, Columbia Community Church, The Church at Covenant Park, First Presbyterian Church of Howard County, Glen Mar United Methodist Church, Grace Community Church, Kittamaqundi Community Church, Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church, New Hope Lutheran Church, Owen Brown Interfaith Center, St. John Baptist Church, St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Catholic Church and Temple Isaiah.
