The 5th Annual Glen Mar Golf Classic Raises Funds for Grassroots

201604572279981288cThe 5th Annual Glen Mar Golf Classic drew over 100 golfers to Timbers at Troy on April 25, a perfect day for golfing. The fundraiser for Grassroots was organized by members of the Glen Mar United Methodist Church in Ellicott City. Presenting sponsors included The Columbia Bank, Ourisman Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram of Clarksville, and Lew and Sue Shipp, who are members of the congregation.

The tourney and a small auction at the golf course raised $25,600. Last month Glen Mar also hosted a large silent auction at the Soup’r Sundae fundraiser for Grassroots, bringing in $14,500. A ceremonial check for the combined contribution of $40,100 was presented at the end of the tourney.

Other major sponsors included Platinum Sponsor Ed Frere, Gold Sponsors George and Sally Dohner, Eggspectation, Esther’s Place, Glen Mar Tuesday AM Men’s Group, Glen Mar Thursday AM Bible Study Group, Glen Mar UMC, M&T Bank, and VSS. Silver Sponsors included The Coastal Companies Foundation, Offit Kurman Attorneys at Law, Dave Ward, Master Flooring and Remodeling, and Kascon. The Putting Contest was sponsored by Don and Pat Lee.

Hole Sponsors included Bob Coursey, Club SciKidz, Jean Moon & Associates, Cushman and Wakefield, Wegmans, Tino’s Restaurant, Stone Bridge Advisors, and Estes Landscaping.

George and Sally Dohner provided the BBQ lunch. Wegmans provided bags and snacks for the golfers.

The Silent Auction Team included Marietta Derby, Renee DeVries, Bonnie Dust, John Hampshire, Sandy Kappert, Debbie Meyer, Nancy Pirritano, Debbie Wood, and Alison Zuzak.

Day of Event Volunteers included Jamie Grace, Barbara Julian, Dan Kagey, Jules Kouatchou, Eloise Labram, Steve Lokitis, Debbie Mayer, Herb Miller, Sue Shipp, DC Veale and Marti Windram.
