Wilde Lake High Fills Empty Bowls for Grassroots

Wilde Lake EmptyBowls14The National Art Honor Society at Wilde Lake High School is hosting “Empty Bowls 2014,” a community fundraiser for Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, on Wednesday, March 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the cafeteria.  Admission is $10 and includes a soup and bread dinner and a handmade ceramic bowl.  Soups are made fresh and donated by faculty and parents at Wilde Lake.

The ceramic soup bowls have been created by Wilde Lake High students. All of the proceeds from the event go to Grassroots, Howard County’s only 24-hour crisis center and homeless shelter.

The National Art Honor Society was founded by the National Art Education Association to inspire and recognize students with an outstanding ability in art and to bring art education to the attention of the school and the community.

Columbia-based Grassroots is staffed by professional crisis counselors who answer 24-hour hotlines, see walk-ins in need of immediate counseling assistance, operate the mobile crisis team which responds to community emergencies, and manage the county’s emergency shelter for homeless men, women and families.

No reservations are necessary for Empty Bowls, and attendees pay at the door. Wilde Lake High School is located at 5460 Trumpeter Road in Columbia.  For information, call 410-313-6965.
