Girl Campaigns for People Who are Homeless

Grassroots was the beneficiary of money raised by an 8 year old girl who wanted to help children and families without a home.

8YrOldHelpsGrassrootsTaylah Thompson has started fundraising early. With the help of her mother, the 8 year old set up a GOFUNDME campaign and sent out requests for donations to Grassroots through Facebook. Taylah learned about homelessness at Bridgeway Community Church, where representatives of Grassroots talked about Howard County’s 24-hour crisis intervention center and shelter for the homeless. Taylah’s campaign garnered $402. She joined thousands of Howard County children who have contributed to Change Matters, the student community service and philanthropy initiative that raises awareness of poverty in the community. Taylah presented the check to Change Matters Coordinator Cathy Smith at a recent church service for children called BridgeKids.
